But when I realized this years lineup featured more female creatives than ever before, I knew I needed to honor the spirit of the feminine. I chose to paint Sa-Roc because she is one of my female heroes and favorite musicians. The lyrics to "I Am Her" call all females to step up to the plate and occupy previously male dominated spaces in order to reimagine the future. I wanted to inspire young girls to chase their dreams and push past their fears to become the leaders of tomorrow. We are here. We are doing the work. We are stepping into our power.
