Does anyone know anything about postering as a form of street art?

I'm not a graffiti artist, I currently paint/draw and leave my art in public places with a related poem. I'd like to make these more permanent and read about postering as a concept. However I'm struggling to find information online, I don't know anyone in the street art world and am struggling to find much information about postering online.

Sorry if it's a newb question but what material would I need to fix (obviously some form of glue). Does anyone know of any street artists who poster? Or resources to read online?
